I still see some fishing presenters on TV sprouting this myth, yet I use nothing but 8/0 circles in WPB and manage just as many 10cm flathead and schoolies as I do keeper fish. And i wouldnt like my chances with a fine gauge 2/0 suicide if a big thumping kingy came along.

A fishing fact - LB is far more difficult than by boat, as I've found out recently.
And yet a 45cm Whiting on an 8/0 circle is an exception, not a given. It all comes down to intended targets and the size (and power) of the respective fish. Not so much a myth, but a misconception

I'd add bait size to that. If I'm loading up a big salmon cutlet, an 8/0 is spot on, if I'm using a squid strip or a half a garfish, I'll go down the twin 4/0 route.
Had plenty of gummies on either rig, and have confidence in both. I'd furthermore add that gummies are not the fussiest fish, yakkas chunks, slimy chunks, garfish, squid, (both calamari and arrow), salmon, trevally chunks, banana prawns are baits I can remember working. Probably a couple more in there as well...
