Does it matter if you use a saltwater combo (with same line), in freshwater. Just curious.

Ive never had a problem.
Caught bream with the same setup in the tambo and trout in the rowville lakes. Didnt wash gear between fishing.
Im no expert tho. Im 99% saltwater. Maybe i found 2 dumb trout...

Nope, no difference. As long as the line and tackle suit the species you're chasing it doesn't make any difference - a rod is a rod and a reel is a reel...

some reels are advisable not to as the spool and in certain cases the whole body of the reel is not anodised or treated for saltwater use, so will corrode quite fast, the old pflueger supreme is a classic example...
in saying that though nothing wrong with using it i9n fresh and vice versa if you give it a good wash down after use..
generally though not many people give a damn and use it all over the place with mixed results.

No problem at all a rod and reel is a rod and reel. One day at Lake Ecumbene two guys close to me were fishing with complete surf rigs and even star sinkers. They caught more trout than I did and were casting at least twice as far!
