With the weather forcast lately being wrong for some areas just thought i start a thread as a braging rights for fish caught in rough weather.
I dont mean that the forecast is because that could be wrong. I mean the actual weather conditions.

I in no means encourage or approve of people going out in rough weather that is out of there experience level just to catch fish.

Just remember fishing is ment to be fun and not coming home due to a silly adventure is pointless.

Just sometimes fish are caught as your packing up due to weather turning bad.

My best was yellow fin tuna 35kg caught in 2mt swell and 20 knot winds on the 12mile at bermagui after deciding to head home cos getting too rough as forcast changed

Or a 1mt kingfish in 1mt swell and sloppy seas near the rocks where we troll for salmon

Was years ago but had one of my best snapper sessions in bucketing down rain.

Almost all of the really explosive salmon sessions come just on the pressure drop before a storm.

Rat King Jan 2015 in the middle of storm cells then had a 16km mad dash across Bass Strait to try and beat the biggest cell that caused major damage to trees and houses.

Decent bass session Australia day long weekend 2013 on a far away river. Spent 30 minutes Of The morning under a bush as rain and some hail pelted down with lightning and thunder everywhere before clearing up.

Bag out session in 25 knot westerly off Patto a good in all of 7m of water. Off the water and driving home within 2 hours of launching.

I heard the pressure changes can make good difference to fishing

We toughed it out at Eden last year with a 3m swell and the wind picking up to about 30 knots, tagged one marlin and dropped another, and also dropped a 200kg mako at the side of the boat after 2 hours.

Fair to say we were pretty knackered after that day, I’d say it’s the worst conditions I’ve ever fished in.

The day started off like a milk pond too...
