Best Australian Salmon Lures?

Post by GoodFriendToadie » Tue Sep 05, 2017 8:24 am

SO went to Mordialloc pier and lost a bloody 1.5kg salmon on prawn but i think it will be so much more fun on a lure.
I tried with a lure only once with a friend and he caught 4 and i caught 1 but i forgot what lure it was.
Can some of you guys give me some suggestions and i will buy 3.

Cheers

almost anything that looks like a fish. metals, plastics, hardbodies. white or silver is most effective. just match the size of what they are eating if you're finding the bite difficult (most of the time it won't matter either)

halco twisty mate (or anything thats similar looking), they are a perfect starters lure for salmon, buy the weight that you can cast using your rod as they come in several different weights.
generally a 10-12gm lure is a good allrounder

With metals even the k mart cheapies worked for me. The trebles on them are crap though... plastics had a lot of success with the squidgy flick baits

Any paddle tail soft plastics down at Mordi work really well, recently went to inverloch and caught bucket loads of good sized ones 1.5kg+ on silver halco metals, but think salmon will hit any of them really

They can be fussy sometimes, but generally most plastics or slices will get them.
ive had salmon bustup near the boat and ignore anything we threw at them, same for almost 15 others boats around us. eventually the white squidgy flickbait worked for me.
