Brett as a matter of interest it would seem that the new jetty will be shorter than the old one - will the new jetty extend past the bend in the old one?

I believe from what I have read on other sites, the last 100m(from memory) is not going to be repaired as it is not the original pier and was added at a later date.
They are going to remove a section of pylons so access is unavailable and then leave the rest as structure. This decision could possibly change a t a later date, but I doubt it.

Works Update - October 2017
The site works are progressing well with the works on schedule to be completed by the end of 2018.

The project is progressing well with the commencement of Stage Two pile, crosshead and deck panel installation. Now that the deck panels are in full production it is anticipated that this will enable fluent installation and significant progress on site.

It's certainly going to be a well used project, should have happened a long time ago though.
