Fish ID please?
Cousin caught this (right in pic) off the Desal plant in Wonthaggi
It has similar traits to a few different species caught out there. Head of a Gurnard, Body of a Sargeant Baker, and the colour of Dusky Flathead. It has large scales as you can see which seems pretty uncommon for a fish of its proportion and body shape imo
Being that it was caught off the desal plant, it's probably some mutated hybrid.

Also it's dorsal fin seems to be offset from the centre line of the body... wtf?

Looks like a sergeant baker to me. Thats what ive always called them. Catch them from flinders exactly like that

Looks like a sgt baker the orange red colours fade a bit when they are dead, some nice flathead there
