Fish ID please?

Post by Kimtown » Thu Jul 13, 2017 12:46 am

Cousin caught this (right in pic) off the Desal plant in Wonthaggi

Image

It has similar traits to a few different species caught out there. Head of a Gurnard, Body of a Sargeant Baker, and the colour of Dusky Flathead. It has large scales as you can see which seems pretty uncommon for a fish of its proportion and body shape imo

Being that it was caught off the desal plant, it's probably some mutated hybrid.

Also it's dorsal fin seems to be offset from the centre line of the body... wtf?
