I've done a lot of abseil fishing in NSW and a few times in Vic., it's a great way to get to the spots where you normally wouldn't.
I've got all the gear if anyone wants to give it a go...?

No more dangerous than in experienced ppl boating a mako, or any other shark for that matter, plenty do it.
