sunflour oil has a higher burning point and therefore won't burn in the pan :thumbsup:gregmaka wrote:What is the better oil to cook fish, anyone tried peanut oil.

You could try and marinate it in lemon juice overnight. I'd just use them as bait though

Wouldn'd lemon juice overnight cook it through? Ceviche style? I put mine in mashed kiwi for a bit before cooking4liters wrote:You could try and marinate it in lemon juice overnight. I'd just use them as bait though

Maybe, I dunno. Kiwi fruit are pretty acidic too though so maybe it would have the same effect.

Re: How do you cook your fish?
Squid and octopus I mostly pickle. Very simple. Clean it cut it up into small strips. Leave the skin on. Put in a pot with1/3 white vinegar 2/3rd water. Add spices of your choice. I usually use chilli and garlic. Bring to boil. Simmer for at least 30 Minutes . If it feels tough when you poke a fork into it, give it a bit longer. Just turn it off when it is cooked and let it cool. The skin now pulls off easy.
Cut up into small pieces and add to a Greek style salad. Lettuce, tomato, olives ,fetta. Bit of olive oil and vinegar. Dig in.

There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

Soak the strips or rings in milk overnight.gregmaka wrote:Thanks Scott,do you also get a big thick Squid just as soft as a smaller one.
To get tender squid you need to either flash fry it for about 15 seconds or slow cook em, but I find it quite difficult to get squid cooked perfectly myself.

Re: How do you cook your fish?
With majority of fish except marlin and tuna i can only taste 2 differences in fish everything either taste like flathead or australian salmon. And in my opinion whiting and snapper dont have flavor.
If im cooking for 1 person it will be floured and fried in little bit of oil in frying pan.
If im cooking for a few like normal when i do a fish cook up about 6 to 8 to 10 people its deep fried in the 2 deep fryers
