Any good overnight hikes w/ fishing?

Post by Ploh » Sun Mar 19, 2017 5:17 pm

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a relatively simple overnight hike in Victoria that also has some good opportunities for fishing (preferably fresh water e.g. trout)? Just basic camping with a bivy tent or swag, nothing fancy. Likely a solo trip too.

Someone posted this great post a couple weeks ago of him going off by himself to fish and camp overnight. There was also something about not many people knowing that particular spot. I can't find the post but I think it was in the Yarra ranges area but again, I'm not entirely sure. If anyone knows which post/person I'm talking about, please let me know.

Cheers in advance guys.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Unfortunately, no. I can remember what the photo looked like but not where it was. The poster was alone I believe.

There is a ripper at the Prom called Sealers Cove, I haven't personally fished it but heard some pretty damn good things about the creek there.

Also a few other spots WAY out east, PM me if you're interested but they are a 'bit' hardcore.

Cheers mate - I don't know if I'm up for 'bit' hardcore. Certainly don't want to bite off more than I can chew. Just looking for a nice 2 days away where I can camp near or next to the river away from any crowds.
