A lot of people solely look at swell size and forget direction and period can also come into play as a swell that's hitting the area more directly with a solid period will hit the rock with more power than a low period groundswell.

Wave buoy data can give you an idea of what to expect and watching the ocean before going down will work on a dropping swell but not on a rising swell.

Yesterday was a perfect example of a rising swell with an incoming tide changing wave conditions in a matter of hours.
Fair enough....but my kids wouldn't understand any of that.
PS. That cliff is a mongrel to get up if the rain comes...so you need to watch the weather as well

Mate have you ever seen the ocean? Ask any surfer/surf life saver/beach or rock fisherman about bomb sets and get back to me

One of the stupidest comments I've seen on an online forum, which is saying a lot!
Obviously doesn't have much clue about swell and how it works.
Please enlighten us how it works.........
Hope the above helps.
Yeah I know that from my surfing days....
Even knowing that info when we have turned ip to a,surfing spot swell can be alot more or less then expected predicted.

the original poster also hasnt bothered responding after the first page
