Worms
G'day gents,
It is me again and as usual I am here to ask another fishing related question.(Cannot get enough of fishing and all things related)
So my question is in relation to the one thing we all use; worms.
I am interested in starting a worm farm because I do not have access to worms and would love to fatten some up to either feed the fish or catch one. I have seen places sell them such as Bunnings and private sellers.
Would anyone know of if there is any specific ones I must get and/or what condition to keep them in? I know there is plenty of videos on the internet but I would rather hear from experienced fishermen on here.
Cheers boys!

Re: Worms
Wherever u store ur worm farm make sure it stays cool and is out of sunlight. The Bunnings worms are small but there's a lot in the box..
I wanted to start a scrub worm farm but apparently they aren't the easiest to breed..

Re: Worms
You can buy a book on worms and there a few different species, but tiger worms are generally the best of a worm farm.

Re: Worms
A tub inside a tub.
Holes in the bottom of the "inside" tub, to drain fluid.
Shredded paper on the bottom. I use soil & vegy scraps.
A piece of cardboard on top.
Keep moist & in a cool position.
Tiger worms are small ,but as somebody on this forum pointed out, just put more on the hook.
I am trying garden worms.
I can not find anybody who knows how to farm scrub worms.
When I have plenty of worms,I have a recipe for Apple Surprise cake.
Cheers

Re: Worms
Pinterest is a good app to quickly find sites with DIY instructions. A1 bait supplies ships large volumes of worms in a lot of varieties - worth googling them.

Re: Worms
TBH growing your own bait worms ain't that easy. Most of those worm farm ones are for making compost fertilizer and they are very small to the point that you cant get a hook through them.
Best idea is get to know some old folks who would appreciate a young fella digging their garden over for them every know and then. The big fat juicy ones out of freshly dug garden beds will be better than any you are likely to grow yourself.
In a perforated container in a not too cold bar fridge with a bit of soil and leaf material, and not too wet you can stretch them out for a month or two.
