What about stick bait?

Would a fly rod be ok for salmon? Salmon are a fair bit bigger than blow flies. Should I be looking to buy a salmon rod instead?

If people can catch a marlin on a fly rod you can catch a salmon.
All depends on the size of the fly rod and how much dacron and braid you get on your fly reel

If you want to stick with poppers then this is the one I would normally go for in a situation like this.
