The part about week before/after and incoming tide, some of my best fishing has been with no moon and an outgoing tide ;)

I don't think it's as much the tide or moon phase, more so it's being there when the fish are with a bait in the water

I have never taken the moon into consideration when fishing. The best tide for me has been the incoming tide. :shark:

Outgoing tide has been particularly good on the whiting, guess it really just depends on the day.

Thank You Mike.

When you said Geelong, this means the pier at the forshore there? Or is it another secret location based in Geelong.

Fishing off the rocks around north shore / St Helens etc , is a good starting point .

Lost count of the number of times I have been to Gunna, well maybe a dozen or so times.

the best time for me occurred recently fishing the incoming tide, 2 hours after the tide started coming in, I hooked my first, second and third salmon, from then on had a steady number coming in as they cruised up and down the beach.

Caught my first gummy and it was so dark I couldn't see jacksh#t.

My feet were definitely itching to get out there, so went to Port Melbourne on Friday night. Just glad that the weather was not so bad and didn't get a cold home. Had no single bite for the whole session. Maybe those fullmoon doomdayser is correct after all. But still happy to have tried it.

The theory is right, and have been tested and advised by many anglers, but sometimes it just doesn't work, for a reason or another ... I actually was asking myself the same question yesterday after I spent almost 3-4 hours for only one fish!!!

I don't know why! and like you I would love to hear some thought on this

From what I have observed is that fishermen have patterns too. Go to any pier and there will be fishermen leaving as others are arriving.

Yep, and actually this is the beauty of fishing that everyone has the right to do whatever he/she believes it works better for him/her, this is in terms of timing, bait, location, rigs and gears ... isn't?
