Re: Most difficult/testing times Fishing??
One that comes to mind , was a very frustrating afternoon. I was fishing the Tarago river above the reservoir and spotted a huge trout near the surface (would of been around 50cm long).
This fish was just roaming around everywhere near the surface ( this part of the river is very shallow but about 40 meters wide ).
I must of tossed every kind of good trout HB lures and spinners , landing most right near the fish and have it passing it's face / not a touch / not interested. Not even scared or fussed of the splashing lures in it's face on some casts.
I then used some of my old homemade dough bait (bread, cheese and garlic powder). I was onto a winner with the bait eventually, but this was one smart fish that I couldn't hook for the life of me.
My homemade dough stays on the hook pretty well, and also hardens when it gets wet making it hard to get off the hook (the cheese in it does this when it's in cold water). Anyway, this bloody trout just kept snapping at my bait very fast and taking my bait every time as soon as it hit the water, sometimes I didn't even have time to flick the bail arm over ! , I tried just about every style of hook and size and still couldn't hook it. Bangg . I swear after the first bait it took , it was like it just hung about in the one spot for ages after that , just waiting for me to toss more bait to it / to feed it ...grrrr
It eventually ate all my bait ( about half the size of a block of butter worth all up ! ). So about 1.5 hours later after trying to hook this fish but just feeding it , it was still hanging about, had eaten all my bait , and had me fuming ! . :angryfire: , fishing is supposed to be fun and relaxing .
I had to walk away from that one. He seemed really dosile/slow the whole time , in no hurry, apart from when he whipped my bait off my hook every time. Was one very smart old fish !. I almost felt like just jumping in the water at the end, and catching him by hand .lol
Cheers , Rick.

Too right mate . That fish owned me that day !, real bad, I'll never forget it , as it's rare to even catch one around 30cm in that river. Was the biggest I've seen in there and I couldn't catch it. BanggDougieK wrote:^ Trout don't get that big being idiots!

Re: Most difficult/testing times Fishing??
I'm not frustrated yet but I'm about 25 sessions into my hunt for a Jew over the past year and a bit. Saw my first one last weekend caught on my boat. Give me another 10 donuts and I'll start getting frustrated. Definitely the most challenging fish I've targeted so far.
The biggest thing I've caught so far targeting Jews is this.
