So I am spending approx. $1000/month on boating/fishing (as per my calculations) and have to deal with the hassles of boat ownership, when I could pay $120 and go on a charter boat whenever I feel like.

Yeah but jumping on a charter boat all the time is hardly fishing

It takes me a minimum of 10 or 12 and that's with flushing the motor as well though.and milady of the time only cleaning the outside as my boat is generally clean inside dude to lures and no bait

$1 soap broom around the entire.outsode.of the boat. Just need to move really fast.
Then $1 to $2 hosing down outside of the boat and trailer and then $1 to hose down onsode thw boat.

Flush the motor at.home
Quick amd easy amd simple

For me a typical trip out in a 4.2m poly is
$30 fuel
$15 launch fee
$12 washdown.

Depending on areas fished.
Launch might be free
Fuel will be hardly used.

Bait is not included as i rarely fish with bait.. otherwise add another $20 atleast
Get a kayak.
$0 fuel, might be $20 worth in the car depending on how far I'm going.
$0 launch fee
$0 washdown
$0 rego
$0 finance

Biggest expense is the Maccas on the way back.

You even catch fish sometimes.
You're probably saving $20 a week on gym memberships/active-wear as well
So true but think of medical bills when you pull your shoulder or back lol
Medicare and a teaspoon of cement are an inexpensive but effective combination

My wife reckons my flathead is $350 a kilo and it would be cheaper if we bought fish.

Lol
I hardly eat the fish I catch.
We roughly bring 20kg of fish back per trip
20x min of $35 per kilo =$700.
So i see it as saves 700 that i dont have to apend on meat when i have family over for a cook up lol
