Have you tried smoking them?
If I pulled it out of a clean water source Id have a crack at smoking them.

I tell you what. The other day I took my wife and kids to go eeling. Got bitten off at the bank. Yesterday I had a crack and again got bitten off. Today I wasn't screwing around. Brought the net. Lip grips and was under the cover of darkness. God I'm glad I was. They are nasty little critters haha. They can virtually survive an apocalypse too. Glad no one else was present as I was trying to sort it out too. Won't take the kids eeling either.

Next one on the list is roach I think. Gotta give this coarse angling a crack.

If I had my time again Id want an esky full of iced water and just drop the eel in whole to let the cold do the trick.
I've got a roach hot spot in yarra valley! If your interested just pm me.

Lol, looking at the figures on your sig Ducky, 80% of those fish are horses. Well played sir.

Jigged up some squid and hit the nong for the low tide change. Threw in the towel at 5.30 am without a touch. 'twas not meant to be. Mulloway will have to wait for the next comp.

18/20, 10 of those a new PB, 4 of which I hadn't caught before. Additional cod which was a frustrating 54cm, again new to me before this comp. None of this possible without some invaluable help from members of fish vic.

Well done to everyone who entered and thanks to Dougie for organising it. This has been a very enjoyable experience. Bring on 16/17

I concur completely. I caught a shite load of PB's this year. Keen as mustard for next year!

Pb squid, brown and rainbow trout, redfin, jew, snapper, yellowbelly. Dropped a 48cm bass putting it on the mat

Keen as to get stuck into cod, bass and perch next year.

I had high hopes of getting out fishing at least once a week over the uni summer break but a combination of running out of money and not being able to store the yak where I'm living made that impossible unfortunately.

I'll have a think about next year but I think I'd rather put time into learning about the species I like to eat rather than devoting hours to understanding fish I'd have no interest in outside of the comp.
2015/16 Fisting Victoria Species comp total: 289cm
Brown Trout: 37cm
Flathead: 51cm; Squid: 36cm; Australian Salmon: 51cm; Snapper 46cm; Silver Trevally 23cm; KGW: 45cm
Major Sponsor: Rim Master Tackle

It is a great pleasure to see Ducky come out on top. Mate, there are some serious stonker fish in there, i'd be happy with any one of them and you landed half a dozen absolute brutes.

Congrats to last years winner SS on second place and newcomer Basti with a stellar effort, I know how many hours you've put in mate.

New thread is up, let's go again!
