my Dad and I used to get whiting off black rock pier, mind you that was when access was prohibited so it had a lot less fishing pressure, it’s probably still worth a go though. As you can catch other things there too, such as squid, pinkies and garfish. We used fresh squid for bait. But you could use mussels off the pier. Hope it helps. And good luck

I haven’t tried there in ages but used to do quite well from there with the kgw in the past as well. Usually when I go past there someone is fishing that spot and these days I prefer to fish in peace and know of a good spot just up the road from there
