genrely my ppb rods r lighter then my wp rods.
Mainly due to lack of current in ppb n pea size sinkers .

I use cheap 20 - 40 buck nibbletip rods from worstlings and compleat angler.
I fish for big ting down around somers, balnarring, point leo ,flinders ,cat bay and ventnor and have never had an issue
Ive never used expensive whiting rods so i cant compare.
If a rod pulls up 40+ cm whiting and pinkies without looking fragile i wont whinge. Buy new rods every 3 or 4 years... my last 2 have lasted 6 years.

2 to 4 kg will work for westenport when theres little to no current but will be good for portphillip.

2-4kg rods are fine. That's what I use with 1500 siennas. A whole outfit is like $100. Can't go wrong.

Great fun at the corals too on pan sized pinkies.
