For starters my rod wasn't very whiting friendly. Lol I had the Himachi Zenku nano and even though I was able to catch whiting on it, I would of missed a lot of bites. So I ended up trying the shimano assassian and matched that will my stradic 3000 and what a beautiful combo.
I also tried a few different rigs until I found the one that worked which was a 2/0 circle on a longer leader then the sinker. It worked beautiful.
Also no berley... and live pippies. It was awesome

From catching none, to winning a comp. that's exceptional

So what did you change ??? Location, bait, rig, technique ???

Just interested

I changed my whiting gear.. I went from a himachi zenku nano to a whiting assassian rod.. with nibble tip. What a big difference.. I used live pippies and nippers that I sucked out of warneet the day before..
I loved the circle hook rig with 2 beads and tube.. the hook leader longer then the sinker. I found that worked
Really well for me.
I didn't strike and just gently pulled to the side and I fished Hastings side middle spit. Exceptional day.

Live pippies are a great bait, use to be able to get them from Preston Markets.
