Re: Jim's irrigation channel fishing adventures!

This thread is hardcore.

I'm not planning to whet a line again until it warms up a bit - usually around Grand Final time (end of September).

Also, I'm just going to say it...I kind of miss the cats.

Re: Do you read fishing books/magazines?

Yep, whenever I'm in the Op Shop and see a book on fishing, I can't help myself...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

After feeling really guilty yesterday for doing nothing but watching the entire first season of Dirty John on Netflix (despite having a headache for most of the day and feeling generally 'flat' - and having to work overnight), I decided today had to be more productive - and it was. I unblocked the s...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Did someone say winter Carp? Oh yes, boy oh boy wowee...the degree of difficulty in catching a winter Carp from the creek is 10! And I've finally done it! With a day to spare...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

The first day of spring has sprung,
T'was caught down the creek,
On a piece of bread, just before the rain begun.
Tis fair to say the 2019/20 carp season is well and truly open!

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

The long weekend should have resulted in a Carp-fishing extravaganza right? Wrong. On Friday I headed out briefly and hooked in a healthy 40cm Carp that snagged me on a stick. When I went to de-snag it, he got off. It was my only bite for the day. Saturday - I stayed in and watched the first half of...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Went down to the creek yesterday and got this pig of a thing. Best fight I've ever had. Was full of eggs.

Approx. 74 cms.

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Headed out for a relatively short session last weekend. The first spot yielded a Goldfish that didn't even know it had been hooked! I caught it on a running sinker, but on reflection, I think he had a go on my float as well. I had a bite that only briefly pulled the float under and I suspect it was ...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Got this Mirror after a fairly luckless weekend. Headed to my 'go-to'- again (all be it on the 'opposite' side I usually fish) , but forgot my polarised sunnies, which may have been a blessing in disguise, as I can get a bit inpatient when I see Carp approaching, but not taking, my bait. This time, ...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Day off work and the sun was out. Drastic times call for drastic measures. I wanted to try somewhere different, so I continued peddling west along the creek, then the Yarra (which I overlooked), then through the tan to a little lake called 'Albert'. Now I've heard Albert is home to trophy-winning Ca...
