The whiting are actually around in good numbers but you need to get past those pinkies. After dark has been doing well (landbased)

Re: going down mornington again

Whiting are there, got a few last week but you need to go early/late. They stop biting during the daytime. Not as many around as June though

Are they decent size the ones you got eddy?
Small but most are legal. They've been around the 30cm mark this year, nothing over 35cm so far. Last year they were bigger on average

Re: going down mornington again

Was there yesterday night too just after the gars stopped biting.

Ended up with 1 calamari and 1 whiting off the little pier, and a bunch of undersize pinkies.

Re: mornington pier

I was there at sunset till 9. Saw a few good flatties and heaps of undersize pinkies, and got a few calamari but it was pretty slow. Also caught the weirdest living thing in my life, a baby bat. He somehow got tangled up in my line. I thought it was just weed until he gave me a bit of a nibble. rps2...
