Decided to go check out Ferntree gully quarry this afternoon, after the recent stocking. Two points to start - *Well done Fisheries on stocking another suburban lake with Natives and trout - great work, looking forward to seeing which lake is next and just how many they end up doing. And *it was gre...

Re: Landbased Options for Kids and Families

Did you fish around Herring Island around in Yarra river before or see someone fish there? What kinds of fish did you catch? :) I go past there often and see people fishing there from time to time. I have tried there in the past as well. Seen bream and carp caught. There are many bridges nearby Her...

Re: What’s Your Fishing Resume?

My uncle was a keen fisher and took me on my first trip when I was about four....don't recall where. Manage to catch a little redfin and was hook. Dad used to take us fishing when we went on holidays, not that he was much of a fisher, but he tried. I always recall him using his Blackqueen rod for ev...

Re: Yarra River Report 19/11/19

Good report - I have been itching to get the rods outs and hit the Yarra again. I have just been concerned that there is still too much water flowing down it at present - went past Warrendyte last weekend and it was fast, high and dirty. Hoping we get a break from this rain and it starts to settle. ...

Re: 26/11/19 Yarrambat Park Lake & Yarra River

Yarrambat was stocked again recently with rainbow trout - you may find that the scrub worms were a bit big for them and they were picking at them.

I can't agree more on waiting for the warm......and dry weather.......

Re: Live from the Yarra - 25th Jan 2020

Gotta wait for the water to clear up a bit I guess I think it is more to do with the flow at present - normally by this time of year the level has dropped and flow slowed - but with all the recent rain it just has not happened. If we get a few weeks of no rain it should start to pick up again. Alth...

Yarra @ Yarra Glen - 29thJan 2020

Better Yarra session this evening. Headed out to Yarra Glen, river still high and fast, but I managed to find some slower sections along the bank/snags. The river claimed its usual amount of tackle for this section, very snaggy. I was using a combination of corn, compost worms ans scrub worms. The c...

Another Yarra donut session

Another donut session on the Yarra this evening. This time at Jumping Creek Reserve in Warrendyte. Scrub worms and corn for bait And not even the mozzies are biting. River is wider here and the flow is not as bad as at Yering. I still can't get over the fact I can't even get a carp on corn....... Di...
