Signage

Just drove past the local boating/fishing outlet and got a grin out of the message on the blackboard outside:

"Nothing makes a fish grow faster than almost being caught".

You've probably seen it before but It tickled my fancy.

Thanks bowl. Nearly enough to make a NSW north coaster fly south for the winter!

Re: Hamilton island fishing / charters

If anyone were to do a trip up to Airlie Beach over the course or a month. Where would YOU camp/stay along the way for a few nights each? Forster-Tuncurry would be an absolute definite for me. I reckon Wonboyn, Woolongong, Hervey Bay and Gladstone would be up there for sure too.. Fraser would be un...

Re: braid to mono what is strongest knot

Unless you absolutely have to use braid - and most situations don't - just use good monofilament and tie simple uniknots.
(waiting for the flak!)

Elbryl where are you? You "had some from last Sunday" so I assume they were locally caught? Please tell us what they are, or describe them if you don't know.

Re: Boating newbie needs opinion on engine running

Good day Ivans. I am no expert and others might have a different opinion but the motor sounds fine and the flow through the impeller looks absolutely normal. I reckon 15 minutes is far too long for flushing with the hose. My mechanic cautions against lengthy flushing without the leg immersed. I simp...

Re: Bad England

I'm in two minds about this. I agree that everyone should make an effort to get their spelling and grammar right but I'd hate to think that anyone would hesitate to post because they are self conscious about their written expression. I've seen some shockers on the forum but I can honestly say that I...

Re: Surf rod recommendation

I'm finding this an interesting thread. Because I come from mid north coast NSW my experience may not be relevant to Victorian surf situations but I'll make some comments for what they are worth. I continue to fish the surf with a 10 foot rod self- made with a Sportex blank nearly 50 years ago. Its ...

Re: Wedge ting

Sorry for my cryptic post. I was trying to point out that one person catching 60 whiting in a session appears to have exceeded their bag limit by 40?
