Re: Melbourne Northern Suburbs

Roxburgh Park Lake (Lake Mcivor Reserve) is stocked with trout on the school holidays which would suggest the water quality there is good enough for the fish to be eaten. I caught one back in September there but threw it back as the lake is full of rubbish. Yarrambat Lake may also be an option. It's...

Re: Upper Coliban Reservoir Report

I just recently moved up this way and have been fishing the Upper Coliban Res a bit these last two weeks. Seen people taking carp on corn and heard a guy got a cod from the banks with a yabbie. I’ve had bugger all luck using worms, yabbies and lures. Tried mornings and dusk and middle of the day. G...

Re: Yarra Thread

Keep putting in the hard yards and you'll get your just reward. Nothing like a bit of hard yakka to make you savour your success later.

Re: Redfin locations in Melbourne's east

I caught my PB reddie at Karkarook many years ago, not sure how it's fishing these days but I used to see plenty being caught by others. Apparently there's a few being caught in Yarrambat Lake as well.

Reddies 17/2/20

It was a hot, sunny day today and having read somewhere on this forum recently that the reddies get up and about when it hits about 30 degrees, I was tossing up between going to the gym after work or jumping in the car and hitting up a lake I've been following closely on Fishbrain recently. With the...

Yarra River 21/3/20

I went down to the Yarra with a mate as the local reddie hotspot has been deathly quiet of late and landed this carp using corn on a running sinker rig. It fought pretty well, taking me for a few long runs before tiring out and slowly coming in. Weighed in at a touch over 2.5kg and was 58cm in lengt...

Re: Re-do my SP collection

When looking at the Z-Man range I like to use motor oil and watermelon red. Both have a decent silhouette and look fairly natural. Seems to work well for redfin. Pumpkinseed isn't a bad colour either.

Re: Back to the Upper Coliban

I think I'll be heading up there in the next few weeks. Always seems to fish a bit better to me when the water levels are higher.

Coliban River 30/5/20

Got out yesterday for a fish with a mate and we decided to work our way down the Coliban River between Upper Coliban and Lauriston Reservoirs. The river was flowing, baitfish were jumping and the sun was shining but while some spots looked likely, we didn't register a single bite. We fished a variet...

Re: 26/11/19 Yarrambat Park Lake & Yarra River

Anyone fished at Yarrambat recently? I have been 3 times and have not even gotten one bite. I was using worms and powerbait on a running sinker rig and I also casted a spinner around. Any tips would be appreciated! I caught 3 reddies there back on May 27, bit over a month ago now. I was using worms...
