Re: Beach Fishing Newbie
For bait fishing I wouldn't bother with a rod less than 12ft, it will give you that little extra casting distance as well as keep your line higher out of the wash. You also need a sand spike / rod holder one that will keep your rod nice and high. Get yourself a good pair of waders not the Kmart chea...

Re: Corio fish death Grammar School Lagoon
This is not good to see, Grammar Lagoon and Indented Heads are a long way from each other so it's hard to say what has caused this.

Re: Any sambos off the surf yet?
Spent Saturday down at apollo bay, lots of fish caught from the surf as well as rock wall.
I fished the surf and caught several fish most around the 40cm and above size. Well worth the trip if you want to get a few bigger fish.

Re: KG fishing charters
Try Joe Farr fishing charters, pretty good experience with them and easy going guys. They are based in Blairgowrie but can arrange to be picked up from a nearby destination. Tell them you are after whiting and they will tell you the best time of the year to go with them.
