What’s Your Fishing Resume?

What’s Your Fishing Resume? By that question I’m referring to your fishing background. What got you into fishing? Did you come from a fishing family or have mates who fished, or did you come to it by yourself and picked things up as you went along? I was lucky. My father fished and from a very early...

Bonus Witchetty Grubs

I needed to split some of my firewood stockpile today to top up the firewood supplies. I was splitting some well seasoned mahogany and had some nice bonus gifts with it in the shape of some good sized witchetty grubs. Nice big ones about the size of my thumb. Looks like a trip to find some king size...

Vroom Vroom

About ten months or so ago I had the offer of a free tinny and motor from an old mate down in Melbourne, all I had to do was go and get it, about a 700km round trip for me. It was too good an offer to refuse and for the last eight or nine months it's just been sitting in my back yard. I hadn't done ...

Re: PPB Mayhem!

That's a day to remember. They don't come around too often.

The trevor is a stonker. They always pull hard for their size and on light gear it would have led you on a merry dance.

Well done!

PLB (Personal Locator Beacon)

After a potentially injurius incident in remote bushland a few weeks ago I have just ordered a PLB. I spend a lot of time in some fairly remote areas and in my neck of the woods mobile phone reception is pretty much non existant in many locations so after my recent incident it bought home to me that...

Re: Snowy River Entrance @ Marlo

"Whiskers is the closing of the entrance now a common occurrence? Have projects that have dammed the water midway through last century caused 50years of unnatural sand build up? " You've hit the nail right on the head. The damming of the Snowy and water diversion to the Murray has seen the flow rat...

Snowy River Entrance @ Marlo

Just a heads up to anyone venturing down this way. As of yesterday the Snowy River Entrance @ Marlo has sanded over and the entrance is closed. The last time this happened was at Easter this year and with the estuary levels rising to the point of inundating low lying farmland the entrance was artifi...

Re: Fingers crossed for you east gippy..

Thanks for peoples concern. It has been a bit hairy here for a while now. Monday was a bad day here in Orbost, blood red smoke filled skies all day and by 6pm it was already dark. At 6.30 Orbost lost power and it only came back on a little while ago. The town was surrounded by fire and those of us w...
