Re: Garmin fishfinder Battery

I dunno how big your boat is but if you can fit a regular marine battery in then I’d go with that. Doesn’t have to be huge but needs to be deep cycle, sealed lead acid and keep it charged up with a decent 3 stage charger when not in use and after each trip. If your not using it to start your outboar...

Re: Soft Plastics Newbie

I’m not familiar with that specific rod but it sounds about right (as long as it’s light and fairly fast action) and 10lb braid is fine. Should match with a 2500 reel. If you use some 8-12lb mono leader and a 1/4oz plus (as light as the conditions will allow but still able to get a reasonable cast i...

Re: Water temp up and no more donuts

I fished out of Paynesville week before last (as well as Mallacoota, lake tyres and off shore from lakes entrance) chasing flatties on SP. let me just say it was very hard going. A lot of effort was put in and some long days for very little reward. We couldn’t even raise a feed off shore as we were ...

Stalking and spinning

Just spent 3 days out around the Yarra valley and Eildon. Waded in my shorts and boots through some pretty remote parts of the Acheron, Rubicon, Stevenson, little Stevenson, grace burn, and badger creek. I also tried to find access to the Watts but it’s all closed off for water catchment and I could...

Thanks for the report.
Brook in Rubicon I often heard, but brook in Stevenson? That's new to me.
Yeah, gotta love that area, very peaceful.
Yep and the little Stevenson too according to people I know that live on the banks of it.

Re: Stalking and spinning

To my knowledge he was correct. He owned land on both sides of the river and his title gave him riparian ownership. I didn’t know where I was, I entered the river on public land and waded down for a kilometre or so. When I came up onto the bank and started heading back to my car (as it’s easier than...

Re: PPB scallop locations?

Use this chart and look About 3.5km (2.2 nautical miles) north of Rye till you see the Rye Channel. Get into the channel and then look for bottom either side of it that you can get down to and have a look. You’ll need a boat and slack tide and preferably dive gear. http://fishing-app.gpsnauticalchar...

Re: best way to cook a pinkie whole.

I do something similar to the recipe below. I usually marinate the whole scaled and gutted fish in a bag in a mix of fish sauce, soy, garlic, ginger, sugar, chilli after putting slits in the side. About an hour in the fridge should do it. Deep Fry it whole in a wok for about twice as long as you thi...

Re: Sorrrento Kingy's basic tips

Ok. I’m no expert. I’ve been pretty quiet around here lately. Actually haven’t fished as much as I would have liked (although I did beat 2 PB’s in my last 2 trips). But I did spent 18 months in Sorrento a year or so back. Chased the kings in the rip. We smashed em on our first go (no idea what we we...

Re: Corona virus part 2

The government is damned if they do and damned if they dont. If they put a complete shut down in place and nothing major eventuates from the virus people will complain that it wasn't necessary to have a complete shutdown with such a devastating economic impact. If they carry on the way they are now...
