Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Gave my new (to me) tinny a try-out fishing around Fraser Is this morning ending up with no monsters but 7 KGW from 32 to 35 cm - all on prawn and ignored mussels, squid and clams - and one salmon. Returned another dozen or smaller whiting and the Toadies were a serious problem. After 4 hours no bai...

Re: WEEDY WHITING
Well I visited Fraser Is again yesterday with half a dozen a bit larger keepers and a nice Flathead. The catch (and release) of the day though was a 30cm bright blue Weedy Whiting - amazing colour!

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Was at Fraser Is again this afternoon - 3 hours of zero keepers and then about high tide managed 6 KGW ( best 2 at 40 cm) and a 46 cm Flattie. As with re-tyred, peeled prawn was the go and Toadies were a real pain!

Re: Boatsales scams?
I bought a car and a boat Dec/Jan and the scams were endless - if someone claims to be a Defence force member and wants a deposit or holding fee just ask them for a copy of their Defence ID Card. I had two such "sellers" - both of whom quickly vanished when I asked for an ID card copy!

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Well the previous trip was a zero but today at least managed 4 keepers in the 36 cm range and returned a dozen or so small whiting. Peeled prawn and clams for bait. As soon as the outgoing tide picked up even the toadies stopped biting!!!!!

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Two trips around the usual spots close to Lakes Entrance resulted in just a couple of very small whiting and many toadies. Gave the soft plastics a run in shallow (about 1 metre) water over mixed sand and weed at Fraser Is resulting in 2 good flatties plus lost one that would have been pushing the 5...

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance
Well I followed in re-tyred footsteps today and fished between 16 and 20 fathoms 3 to 4 km West of Lakes Entrance. Kept 8 good flatties and 4 large gurnard plus many flatties released. Sadly the gummies stayed away!

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance
Two more trips outside the past week with a dozen good flatties, many smaller ones released, and a few more large gurnard. Nothing wrong with gurnard in the eating department and easy to fillet. No gummies yet though. Interesting watching the pelicans eat gurnard frames - they toss them around insid...
