Slippery, You will also need to purchase a parachute flare if you are heading further than 2nm offshore (same as epirb) The tuna are beyond the 100m line at the moment which is way beyond the no go zone due to this abalone virus. Used to fish it alot 25 years ago. We used to do a few things, Cape Patton in 30m for the usual reef species and sharks. In close off Skenes creek anchoring just behind the breakers for whiting, Snotties, trevally and squid.Also trolling just behind the breakers for sambos. More recently people head...

OK i'll give you a secret tip but dont tell anybody else...Head down to Fishermans Beach after dark fishing the last two hours of ebb tide into the flood tide using squid for bait. One lighter rod with small hooks, one with big hooks. Thank me later

Your confusing the poor guy Andrew, Jack mackerel arent slimies they are cowanyoung. They look similar to yakkas but are darker blue/green through the shoulders and have a larger eye. Slimy mackerel look totally different to both these fish
