I would say any hook that has Banana Prawn on it ie for whiting I tried fresh mussel ( shelled while out there ) on one hook and prawn on the other . well done on the gumbos land based can be so hit and miss - it always surprises me how it's easy to catch them in the yak quite offen just out of land based casting range a lot of the time

Agreed, cured eel with a 1/0 - 4/0 (up to you, I've hooked up with big & small hooks) Black Magic or Mustad circle hook. Eel is tough as bootleather too, so it stays on your hook just about better than any other bait around.. Yup, what he said... couldn't agree more, cured eel is gummy candy. bollo...
