Re: Don't need 2 Nets

I have the exact same net, it cost me around $30 to $40 originally brand new (can't quite remember as it was around nearly 2 years ago ), so $10 seems like a good price imo if its still like new ( which it does look ). Handy nets, pretty strong, a bit course/rough on the netting, although fine for a...

Re: YET MORE TILAPIA

Good catch, they look a bit like carp over here, and seem to be just as abundant over there!.

Cheers, Rick.

Re: Ridiculous price of fish hooks

Hi All, I could say you get what you pay for, but in my time I know better than that. BUt there are plenty of fisho's out there and probably here that would only use Owner or Gamma hooks. Too much brain washing by tv fishing shows, those tv guys have a lot to answer for. Just take Owner Hooks and T...

Re: Bait fishing...rod holders or hands on?

If the fish are hot on the bite , then rod in hand. If it's a bit quiet, then a can in the hand instead and sitting back waiting for the bite on the rod holder ;) .

Cheers , Rick.

Re: Top 3 SP's for Snapper and Jewies

Any pilchard size SP, and colour roughly works for snapper from my messing about trying Sp's on snapper. I'm not a big SP fisher though, so I only tried some scented SP's that looked like a pilchard size and silver/blue colour, they worked fine though. I've never tried SP's on Jewies, maybe hard to ...

Re: If crazy enough to go out in this weather?

You just have to look at that swell under the pier, it's 'just under the pier' !. That is no safer than rock fishing on a bad day, at least be wearing pfd's on a day like that. There may be a rail there to hold onto , but one big wave can easily wash you over rails or not. Crazy imo, no fish is wort...

Re: Flooding and predators

best mulloway conditions available.. find where the dirty water and clean water merge in hobsons bay and troll or live bait cheers These type of conditions are the best ever for fishing Melbourne bays close to shore, and it's rivers. It's what I wait for all year!!! Bream, Snapper and Jewies...ever...

Re: If crazy enough to go out in this weather?

What a hit of weather !. I got a broken tree and mess everywhere. I think the Yarra busted its banks in the city too. Apparently the sea water was crossing the Nepean Hwy near the Frankston Pier. You would have to be nucken futs to be fishing in this weather . :titanic: Edit , found some pics.... Ch...

Re: Do soft plastics have a 'use by date'?!!!

Remember to keep them out of the sun too on a hot day, also left in a tackle box in the sun on a hot day, they get hot and have a tendency to sort of melt into a slimy mess! .

Cheers , Rick.
