Re: I built one instead of buying one
Tried pvc pipe on the rocks FC? At the beach with a bit of wash around the bottom? On a pier? PVC suxs dog testi, been there done that. Main reason for this, was the rocks. Legs are all adjustable and can be moved to suit uneven ground. It will however work just as well on a beach, pier or rock/sea...

just use PVC pipes. Cheap, light and easy to carry...just insert the rod and bundle up. It lasts and don't rust.

Re: Where to catch some fresh bait?
Stir fry sounds nice. will also try a different of recipes. Any tip on the heat settings? High heat, quick cooking or low heat, slow cooking? Will the cala feel like rubber sole if cooked slowly? I will make the cala very tough to chew so my wife wont eat my baits. :roflmao: My wife asked me ...

Re: A gummy from Westernport
Have tried banana prawns a few times with no luck Just for laughs... :lolf: Dont try, use or carry anything that has association with "banana". I know a charter that hates seeing Banana Boat sunscreen. If they see one on board, they will probably pay for your sunscreen and chuck it out of the boat....

Re: The Pier
If I am a fish, I will stay at the end of the inaccessible portion of the pier. That gap in the middle is a classic example of policies and projects wasting $$. With pier like that, tourism and angler's $ will not come to the area as it used to be.

Re: PPB! Chasing reds are even more Fustrating! ( Boat )
Vinhii, who says catching reds from PPB is frustrating? Here is something (almost) red I caught today, landbased, portsea pier. Got 2 more smaller ones....missus was happy with the small ones....till scratching her head what to do with the big one. https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash...

Re: Where to catch some fresh bait?
:roflmao: calamari wise, I told my wife to cut a portion, cook it then see how it goes. On the trade of catch, we invest 100x more in time and effort chasing cala land based than catching snaps on a boat. 1 cala = 100 snaps. :roflmao: 100 grams of LB cala = 10kg of boat snaps. :roflmao:
