Re: Clifton Springs Kayak Sunday 3 Morning
I’ll have to give this one a miss, I’ve got plans already. Post again when your next outing is and hopefully I’ll catch you on the water. Good luck tomorrow, with some surface disturbance from the wind, high tide and cloudy conditions around 8am it should be good time for squid

Clifton Springs
Headed out off Clifton Springs in the yak this morning, launching at around 5:20am. Glassed overcast conditions while targeting squid, closed the bag then picked up a few whiting and a flathead before heading home around lunchtime. Helped push a boat off the shallow bank (0.5m) to the west of the bo...

quick-release-kayak-anchor-system_orig.pnghey Andrews, like this yeah ? Also worth trying to make sure the actual dive reel spool is not under tension, as they are made of plastic parts and are designed to wind up slack line rather than be under pressure. Cleat the line that comes out of the reel t...

Re: any kayak anchor recommendations?
Also worth mentioning (you may already know this), is to connect the end of the chain to the head of your anchor via a shackle, then clip the chain to the top of the stem with a small cable tie. The cable tie should be strong enough to not snap when at anchor in current or wind, but weak enough that...

Re: any kayak anchor recommendations?
Hi Tangles, this is a cut and paste of a previous post of mine regarding anchor trolleys, it might not suit everyone but has served me well. I use the full length Hobie anchor trolley, had it for 8 years and the ropes and fittings are still in good condition. Using an anchor trolley properly can mak...

Re: 2023 Snapper Season

This time i sounded up around a contour line but didn't bother looking for marks, just watched where the reef dropped onto sand at a...
