Re: casting
If you cant reach the fish you definitely wont catch them! For someone relatively new to casting i wouldnt go beyond a 12ft rod. There are lots of different ways to propel your gear a decent distance and you can tailor your gear to suit you. Most decent 12 ft rods will give you a chance to send a ba...

Re: locations and tips
The guys on here are really helpfull but, the people that put the most in are the ones that get the most out. What you are asking for is the result of 1000s of hours of effort so don't be suprised if they are reluctant to give you what you want.

Re: The Gunnamatta trudge.
Had a full day at Gunnamatta today, the weather was amazing, pretty calm and overcast. First time spinning for Salmon in my life not a good start, but I'm pretty stubborn so I'll keep trying. I was using a Gillies metal lure 40g and had a Gillies 60g glow in the dark belly as well. Arrive at around...

Im by no means an expert but i reckon this type of fishing could be way more productive than expected. I ...

Re: Fishing frenzy
Even with no gear that walk is tough, but all the best spots are hard to get to. Ive been looking at one spot thats at least an hours walk in an you have to be off it 2 hrs before high or you get cut off. Will be carrying the bear minimum when i do that one.

I have to say its a big walk getting in there carrying your gear and even worse coming back. I carried the kitchen sink in with me as had no idea abo...

Re: Fishing with bubble floats...for trout.
Those crystal wagglers work fantastically. They show up even the most tentative bites, i even made some scaled up ones which i used in the sea. You can get them unweighted so you can fish them as a sliding float in deep water. We used to use those bubble floats surface fishing dog biscuits for carp,...
