Re: Bait hunting
Had another bait bash today and now regretting the light line choice. Hooked into what would have been my PB, played it out and just getting the net ready when it wrapped me up in some floating weed and parted the line. Think I will go back to the 4kg line instead. Picked up one other just under the...

Re: Slack/Loose line Help
With float gear cast past your spot and then wind back in with the rod tip underwater. This will sink the line and stop the wind belly.

Re: SAVE WESTERNPORT!!
I think they have started strengthening work on the jetty only at this stage. This project does looks like its buying back gas from overseas when its cheaper there than the domestic price, something NQR when we are the largest producer in the region. It really doesnt seem wise to pump thousands of l...

Bait hunting
Been finding it very difficult to pick up fresh bait recently. Either just picking up one fish or they are all too small. Better luck today as went chasing some squid off one of the piers, couldn't get any squid, but managed to find a shoal of decent salmon. Only had my squid outfit with 4lb line so...

Re: Telescopic Rods
BUMP So the thoughts seem to be travel rod over telescopic, right? I need something to take on the plane to Fiji, preferably can fit in my suitcase rather than PVC tube. Needs to be able to handle light game (smallish GTs, coral trouts, smallish Spanish mack) so probably 7"-7'5" in the 6-10+kg size...

Live Baiting
Was out recently trying to catch bait and was getting a fish a cast of small salmon, problem was they were all pillie sized. They were though perfect bait size for snapper. Is this a grey area if you are catching for bait rather than taking them home? After all I will be putting them back, just with...

man i wouldn't sleep for months
I put the picture up on the tv and sized the picture to match the rod in real life and then measured the fish, probably more accurate than doing it on the sand.

Hey dezza I may have missed it but was this on lure or bait ?
It was on bait, was too windy to lure fish.
