Re: Rowville lakes
Unfortunately I am not close enough to drop down there for a lunchtime fish, but it is further encourgement to get back there soon....and with lures this time. Had planned to come back this weekend, but the way the weather is shaping up, it sounds like a good weekend to stay inside....

Re: advice doing a fishing Trip along coastline towards Berm
I'd suggest calling in at Tathra and throwing a line in off the peir. Been a while since i was there, but it always seemed to fish well.
Also around Chritsmas we used to get a good number of squid. The river at the other end of town was also fairly productive.

Re: Rowville lakes
Yes just down from the market on the left heading south. Not sure what weight the tassie devils they were using we're but the were certainly doing the trick. I've been trying there for over 12 months with only one roach caught by my daughter. So was good to see there are fish to be had. Maybe next t...

Re: Rowville lakes
you didn't happen to be near where the tents were set up, I saw the same guys nailing them on a pink tassie devil. Unfortunately i didn't bring any lures with me this morning, figured three bait options would have to come good on aat least one... Will hopefully get back down there soon, gotta be abl...

Rowville lakes
Fished Rowville lakes this morning for about 2.5hours, but not even a bite. Was trying worms, corn and trout nuggets. There were fish being caught but just not by me....oh well will have to give it another crack soon, see if I can break this drought. Always frustrating though when the guys next to y...

Re: A good general fishing line
Hi Guy - thanks for all the info. On balance I think i will be going with Mono. For the fishing I will be doing it should be fine.
Good to get all these perspectives though.
Anyway heading down to rowville lakes today for the family fishing day, hopefully the kids can nail a couple of trout.

Re: Lookin 4 a land based spot local
being more a freshwater fisher, I have never tried fsihing directly off the beaches around the bay, such as Mordicalloc. Do you have to have any specialized gear and how far out do you have to be able to cast? I unfortunately gave up on piers a long while back, always found them too crowded. But if ...

Re: A good general fishing line
Thanks again for everyone's inputs. I think the idea of having to tie leaders on detracts from braid. I have always used Mono and not had any issues, so think i will end up sticking with it. Trying to keep the older daughter interested in fishing, while trying to also hook the younger two, so the si...

Re: A good general fishing line
Thanks Guys - Braid seems to be the way to go. Guess I tend to be slow to update to new product etc so have not yet used it. Looks like I will have to get out over the weekend and see which braid fits the budget. And then get back out there and catch some fish with it. :Fishing_1: would hate to keep...
