Haha. I got him this little thing. Just waiting for it to come in. They are meant to take the punishment of young anglers and new rod are like $30 from the US if he breaks it so its not bad.

Voodoo are you talking about windons? I replace mine whenever it needs it. Damaged line etc. I generally start with 1.5 rod lengths. Cut it down as it gets damaged to 1/2 rod length then retie. The bright lines as for visibility/line management. You can watch your line clearly against the water for bite detection. You use a rod length or so (species dependent) leader of mono/fluro for the final attachment to the lure.

I'm in the same boat as purple as we spoke about. caldia is cheaper and in my mind a better reel than the ci4. I'm not saying the ci4 is bad at all, I just prefer the daiwa.
