Re: Getting on with boat re-build
I was trying to utilise the switch panels I have installed at the minute, I'm running out of room for separate switches lol. But if I have to, to make it work, I shall do that, So, it's really just a case of finding a suitable/capable switch to cover the 18 amp draw, then use appropriate cable and r...

Re: Getting on with boat re-build
Question to those electrical Guru's. I have a blue seas 6 gang switch panel at the helm, with a maximum of 15 amps per circuit. The deckwash down back, rates at 18 amps, which recommends 14 AWG or heavier, dependent on distance, I have about 6 meters of cable length from switch panel to where the de...

Re: Formula 15 Renovation
Jacking plates are good and serve a purpose, BUT, if your at rebuild stage, then raising the transom ( as I have) to take a 25 " is the better option to take for sure. Both options lift the power head up further out of the water, but the extra 5 " makes a huge difference at the back for the reasons ...

Re: Fishing tackle technology over the years.
Hi Cheaters, My favourite, has to be the Squidder, for sure. Introduced in 1939 and apart from the reels seat and a change of coloured side plates, it remain unchanged for 70 years, which kinda proves how successfull they were for Penn. It was an expensive reel to own in 1939, $25, I mean think abou...

Re: Suitable offshore tinny/any boat?
The thing is, " suitable offshore boat", being the question, would not be what your looking at. The question, would be,, what's the minimum " suitable offshore boat" We've all been there at some stage, getting something that can for the first time get you out a bit further, fish wider. But, we quick...

Re: Cost effectiveness
As per what Frozen said. What I have been doing is not greasing my bearings, but using corrosionX for all bearing lubrication in my spinners. Amazing results, I normally take the bearing guards off ( if supplied) as well. You would need to service monthly if in heavy use, hence the bearing guard rem...

Re: Fishing tackle technology over the years.
I've said this before and it will probably cop a fair bit of flake for it,, BUT, modern day fisho's are spoilt by whats on offer now,, and most of it is just advertising gimmicks....... The modern stuff doesn't really make you catch more fish, your lead to believe that thru advertising !! Smoothness...

Re: Smoked Australia Salmon
Col, What I found, is throw some stones in the wee burners before you fill it with meths, it will double the flame time. I always bleed my salmon, real important and makes a big difference on the table. I don't worry about marinating, they get fanned open, liberall coating of sea salt, followed by a...
