Re: Where can I find big yabbies?

I think you'll need access to a dam for yabbies, know any friendly farmers? If you want to catch a good size fresh water crayfish though (much better pet I reckon) then use the 2 ring drop nets and head out to any fresh water creek/river in Gippsland and have a go. I've caught some monsters out there.

Re: Buying a boat

I would say yes to the high sides and also say if you are considering up to 4.8 then go 4.8 because Then you dont need to wear a life jacket and this frees you up so much plus it still gives plenty of room after the console space is taken up. I personally prefer to buy used condition for the cost sa...

Re: PPB scallop locations?

Well not much to show for it but I discovered I can freedive down to 6 meters without much hassle and search around a bit. Had to wait for the tide to slacken though. These ones were off the Rye channel in 5-6 meters near the little house thing on stilts. The bug was a bonus. Thanks for the pointers...

PPB scallop locations?

Hi folks, I'm staying down in Sorrento at the moment, have boat, snorkel gear and mates a plenty that are keen to find some scallops. We found a few (2) here and there while just randomly jumping over the side around the sisters but didn't see any discarded shells on the Bottom or much else. Can any...

Re: Jamieson - Kevington - Woods Point

There is a small campsite called doctors creek a few miles out of Jami on the way to Woods point. On the right hand side. Small River, decent trout, great little quiet spot. No 4x4 needed. Also plenty on big River Rd. Prolly a few folks around this time of year though.

Re: My "Go To" Rod and Reel - Advice Please

Depending on your egi style, an SP rod should be fine. Bait fishing has rather different rod parameters. For around $200 I would think you'd get a suitable 2500 reel (I hate to admit that the sienna is pretty good for the price, around $40) and then 2 rods. A light medium to fast action for SP and b...

Re: Shimano Catana 762ML Egi rod - anyfeedback?

If it breaks, I will go to shimano for warranty. :-) Good luck with that. On the original topic, I bought a silstar egi rod. They had 2 models about 8' and about 9'. They are legit egi rods/blanks albeit only entry level, the guides are not Fuji but it has served me very well and I got it on specia...

Re: how much does this bat weight?

The gross weight is the trailer plus the total weight of the loaded up boat. It's usually the max the axles can handle, at least no more than that. I was only pointing out that it's no more than 2 tonne as a tow weight (if legal). I don't know what the actual weight is but I have a similar sized boa...

Re: Where are the KGW

In mid coast NSW I've had smashing sessions on the Whiting in 30 to 60cm of crystal clear water over the sand and snorkeled in schools of them in the gutters off the beaches in 50cm to 2m. They will happily go shallow but I've never fished for them down here land based. I think it's easier not to sp...
