Re: labor win
That just doesn't cut it on a forum like this - If you're going to make big claims, you need to stump up with the evidence - even a link to the relevant council minutes would do. In any case, local government is a very different kettle of fish to state politics (no pun intended)!

Re: labor win
I don't know what you're referring to there, Ducky. I wasn't aware that the Greens had implemented a 'lock out' policy around the forests in King Lake? What do you mean by this, exactly?

Re: labor win
I guess that 88% is what I was referring to - most anglers pretty much agree with the Greens position on fishing / fisheries in principle, at least. There are some odd views in the party about a range of issues, though, I agree. Isn't that true of the Labor and Liberal parties also, though? If you v...

Re: labor win
I don't know - there are a lot of claims being made about the Greens, but I haven't seen any policy links posted on here that back them up. Eco-'terrorists'? Really? Also, about those reports of Mercury in the Gippsland Lakes, here's the thread: http://www.fishing-victoria.com/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=...

Re: labor win
DougieK - do you have a link for those revised studies on the Gippsland Lakes / mercury contamination? I would genuinely be interested in reading them, as I fish up that way quite a bit (although usually a bit further east).

Re: labor win
Can you give an example of what these 'catastrophic impacts on our future' would be? Marine Parks have been shown to increase fish stocks dramatically when well implemented - ultimately if fishing becomes unsustainable because of poor management, no one wins, including anglers. But I agree, I wouldn...

Re: labor win
For a site dedicated to a healthy environment (which is, after all, what fishing is all about) I would have thought that most of us would have been Greens voters. Obviously ... not? And the classic case of why would be this recent research about coal-burning power stations in the Latrobe Valley, lin...

Re: Luderick in the Yarra / Maribyrnong?
I've definitely seen them caught at Mornington, but I'm after a spot that's a little closer to home.

Re: Luderick in the Yarra / Maribyrnong
Thanks fitzy90 - I always assumed they were there (very rocky), but just needed some confirmation ... I think a plan is slowly hatching ...
