Re: New to the area and fishing
I'd do some research online or on the forum to make sure you got the rights rigs/setup for the species your chasing, as a rough guide, things like; Snatchers for Whiting 2.5 - 3.5 Jigs for Squid Light Running Sinkers for Pinkies/Snapper The correct Rods/Reels also help - budget permitting of course....

Re: Family friendly pier fishing
i reckon the tackle shop wasn't far off. I get they can be caught and many have in the past, but i haven't a decent haul of gars or whiting of any of those piers recently (I frequent Port Melbourne/St Kilda Area weekly).. This time of the year i'd be fishing a simple light running sinker with pillie...

Re: Port Melbourne fishing!
Chase Pinkies, Look for SW - wind direction, go the the local piers (Lagoon, Kerferd, Station), have a chat to a few people, a paternoster or running sinker with pilchard, fish peak times - sunrise / sunset..

Battled with a few Eagle Rays, Banjo's, etc.. out a bit deeper (13-15m), nothing wort...

Re: going out saturday in the boat
Ill head out from St Kilda towards Black Rock at some point, drift the afternoon for Squid and Flatties over some weed and sand flats, do sunset for pinkies in 7-10m and head out deeper/13-15m for whatever (bigger) takes the bait for a few hours into the night..

$1000 dollar hull, max.. & if you had a grand you probably wouldn't buy that, no no for me, especially with a dead engine, you'll be pouring way more into it..

Re: Weekend Report 3

Re: LB King
Great work Abzz. Love reading stories like this, just proves that even Kingfish are an option for dedicated enough landbased anglers. To me the location is irrelevant but seeing these types of reports actually motivates LBG Anglers to go and try out they're own ledges.. For example, i fish a lesser ...
