Yeah im going to make a taller one for the beach and put some cups on the bottom leg to keep the rods off the floor. I purchased the bits and then put it together, its just a prototype, but only cost me $9. Managed to drop my old one off the end of a pier. Reckon this one will float.

Awesome fishing, such a shame they hog the big ones in SA. I wonder how old a fish of that size would be? Could be catching the salmon equivalent of me.

Interesting to hear Gav, fairly sure pat hooked a thresher near merricks last time I was there. Nothing wrong with using a sounder, but fish move i often wonder how often you are fishing where the fish were and not where they are now. I still think you are better off learning where and when to fish and drawing more fish to you than doing 40 knots between gps marks in the random hope a fish is...

You can just tie a loop at the end of your rig which does pretty much the same. Lots of shiny stuff in tackle shops to catch anglers!
