Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Well my fishing week so far. An early morning run to the Barrier Landing Monday for 2 KGW at 36 and 37 cm and hordes of Toadies. Tried again early Tuesday for just 1 KGW about the same size. Thursday mid afternoon I had a wander around Rigby Is for zip and arrived at the barrier just before low tide...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Well I finally found a few decent KGW near the Barrier Landing today - they were were very timid and the Toadies were biting a lot harder than the Whiting. Bait was prawn. Anyway I ended up with 6 between 34 and 37 cm, lost a couple of decent fish, and released 2 around 30 cm. Many "micro moves" and...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Pirkz is sure killing them - managed another 2 decent KGW at the Barrier Landing area early in the week and now at home with Covid - the wind can blow all it likes for the next week or so!

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
I fished around the Barrier Landing and Fraser Is today and managed 2 KGW at 35 cm and lost a much larger one next to the boat. All caught on prawn. At last, finally, a couple of KGW! A few small salmon gave me false hopes but good gummy bait.

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Thanks everyone - something I noticed now that the water is clearer was that some of the weed beds around Fraser Is and The Barrier have either gone or are much reduced. My favorite KGW honey hole - about a 12 m diameter sand patch surrounded by week - is now several times the size and the weed is n...

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes
Just curious if anyone has managed KGW the past 2 weeks? I did a whiting trip last week between Lakes and Nungurner and surrounds for zero whiting but had fun with a school of Tailor. Gummy baits and burley sorted for a trip or two.

Re: MORE MACQUARIE PERCH STOCKED TO SUPERSIZE RECOVERY
Great to see this stocking. Am sure Hughes Creek was well overdue for a top-up and some genetic diversity. A few of the other Goulburn tributaries that have isolated Macca populations could equally do with a top-up in years to come. VFA were all the brood fish from Dartmouth or were there some from ...

Re: ASIAN SNAKEHEAD SEIZED AND DESTROYED IN NSW
Good question Sebb - the video showed a tank at least 2m long. Yes they are a tropical species so will not be a problem in Vic or most of NSW - Qld is another matter though.

ASIAN SNAKEHEAD SEIZED AND DESTROYED IN NSW
It was not only interesting but quite alarming to note that NSW Fisheries seized and destroyed a live 90 cm Asian Snakehead recently. This species is causing major problems in parts of the US (and other countries), as those of us that watch fishing shows would have noted. Snakeheads can survive out ...

Re: Land based Lakes Entrance
Yesterday I saw a large Flounder on the sand in about 50 cm of water just near the footbridge. Could be worth a wander around that area at night?
