Re: Yarra river Bream on SP's

Yeah that isnt ideal … if I had to fish that pontoon in the pic I’d probably go onto it and do a few casts along the front edge … maybe slow roll the plastic along it too … just see if any are holding up underneath it. That backside/pylon is low chance I reckon. Not sure if the Yarra has a drop off ...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

My “plan” so far is if it’s a creek fish I’ll do CC’s method. Lake fish I’m a bit concerned that they won’t “disappear” that quick and when the water clears up the kiddies and mommy joggers will be traumatised by the slaughter pit that appears before them …. Plan for those ones I think is to stick t...

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper

Nice vid :)

How many do you dispose like that? . I’ve done the same at cherry lake but I have a fear that come the summer when the water clears up …..

I’m thinking there’s a limit to how many I can bury at sea …

Re: Yarra river Bream on SP's

Yeah that’s all good stuff — I tend to go 6lb around the cbd but mostly banks on the nong im at 4lb - you’re right though that might be a bit ambitious to start with. dead sticking cranka crabs definitely works - I just find it a bit dull - but I still always carry one :) saying that - if OP you end...

Re: Yarra river Bream on SP's

Yeah - as you get better and know how to watch the line and when a slight twitch or a drop-back indicates a bite I think that makes sense. Using the reel to hop it and keeping it on a fairly tight line is useful when starting off as it will catch fish, it removes the confidence factor of wondering i...

Re: Yarra river Bream on SP's

Roughly what area of the Yarra are you fishing? I mainly fish CBD and the Nong - for the Yarra I was mainly downstream of crown …. Fairly sure the middle and upper brackish sections of the Yarra would fish like the nong though. As sebb mentioned above - our estuary is a salt wedge estuary so in our ...

Re: Carp Diem

Yeah that style is what I’m using currently - not the easiest things to find in Aus but I found a seller on eBay that does a bulk lot 64A2347E-B528-46A8-A193-6C375D47B59B.png They are meant to be used for maggots but they seem to work fine as long as the burley is a fine crumb. I’ve got a couple of ...

Re: Yarra river Bream on SP's

As Sebb said drop your leader to 4lb (banks) or 6lb (docks/pylons). Year round breamin in the CBD you can get away with four lures: 40mm blade 30-40mm shallow diving hardbody 2 or 2.5” zman grub Strike pro micro vibe You can add to the above but quite honestly I’d be confident fishing year round in ...

Re: Carp Diem

Haha - great!

Manchester was our closest “big” city. A fancy day out was a train trip, a visit to the Arndale Centre and fish and chips in BHS :)

Re: Carp Diem

That takes me back …. Haven’t heard ledger fishing for ages …. I started off on small game ponds ledgering and float fishing for rainbows. There was a series of ponds on the edge of town run by the Furness fishing association - one was a stocked game pond (called “Nigel”) which was stocked with rain...
