Re: The Worm Strikes Again
I see you're doing a lot of pre Dawn stuff. Are they going during the day or does the bite shut off?

Re: Solar panel trickle charger.
By the time you buy a panel and install it you'd have spent more money than the electricity would cost you to just hook up the maintenance charger you already own. I used to run a 20W panel as a maintenance charger when the boat lived in the front yard and leads were a pain but it was a waste of tim...

Re: Solar panel trickle charger.
I've ensured I've got the battery wired directly to an isolator with no other connections on the line side. So when the battery is isolated there can't be any parasitic draw. I also bought a retractable hose reel style electrical lead that I've installed above where the boat lives. So I can just pul...

Re: Barwon heads questions
I have been out through both Port Phillip Heads and Barwon Heads (not my boat) several times and I think Barwon Heads is safer. Port Phillip you need to cover a lot of ground to clear the danger area and even on good days it can be scary especially when there is water swirling around you. Not exact...

Re: Barwon heads questions
With the amount of water pushing down the Barwon you might want to give it a miss. I have never been out the bar there my boat will not fit under the bridge. I know plenty who have and have had no issues. Just pick the time and tide swell etc. Going out the heads best at slack water same as high ti...

Re: Barwon heads questions
What were the conditions like at the time Dennis? Was it slack water? Decent swell? Mid tide?
I did the old forum search and read up on barwon heads. Seems a lot of people push out in smaller boats in the right conditions. But just need to be cognizant of any weather changes

Re: 12V BOAT TRAILER ELECTRIC WINCH
Yep makes sense. Are you driving on or walking/winching on? If you're driving on I'd look at a boat catch. The electric definitely makes sense if you're walking on.Paulanderson wrote: ↑Mon Oct 10, 2022 4:37 pmducky when you are 76 years old a 4.5 m boat retrieval on your own can be a challenge LOL. Thanks for the responses to my request.

What's the benefit of electric on something so small and light weight?

Re: what's the weirdest thing you have found or seen while fishing?
Ain't nothing worse than starting off a fishing trip than with day 1 sunburn. If it's gonna be properly hot I'm wearing boardies and thongs with a fair bit of sunscreen on the tops of my feet and back of my knees. Long sleeve Columbia fishing shirt. Buff. Sunnies. Bit of zinc across the nose and top...
