Yeah like Nev's fishing in his videos on YouTube.
Checked out a few of his video's after reading this post. Pretty entertaining. Seems like he has a decent enough head on his shoulders too

Re: Squid fishing down phillip island

If I'm you, I'm fishing either ventnor or cleeland bight (dependant on wind/tide) with a sand whiting on a squid prong under a float.

That'll be your most productive way of getting squid. The jetties are overpopulated and pretty overfished imo.

Re: Wingan inlet

Looked at this place thousands of times on maps but never actually got around to checking it out. Looks really good. It'd have the usual east gippsland estuary species I'd imagine, as well as salmon off the surf

Re: Swains Reef check list

It's coming up quickly, only a couple months until we fly out. I want to make a bit of a fish species check list thing into a competition/game for all the people going, just to add a bit of side fun... Maybe $20 a head entry, person to tick the most species off the check list takes all? Has anyone ...

For me personally, it all depends on species.

Whiting: measure
Flathead: measure
Gummy: weight if big, measure if for a feed
Snapper: as above
Bream: throw back and hope I don’t get another
Do you prefer length or girth?
Why not both?
