Everytime I spin that last spot I lose slugs.

Do you get snagged often on the SP's?

Casting distance isn't a huge issue, I don't see it being more than 10% at the absolute most and that's only really 15 metres difference at the most.

Leaning toward the heavier stuff.

I've never fished Devilbent with fly gear so I can't tell you if it will work or not. I have seen a fly fisherman walking back up to his car as I was on my way down, but didn't stop for a chat.
