Re: Some Salmon Fun

Everytime I spin that last spot I lose slugs.

Do you get snagged often on the SP's?

Re: 12kg or 16kg for the big surf rod?

Casting distance isn't a huge issue, I don't see it being more than 10% at the absolute most and that's only really 15 metres difference at the most.

Leaning toward the heavier stuff.

The rod is rated to 15kg and I'm looking at either 12 or 16kg braid, is ...

Re: Devilbend Reservoir

I've never fished Devilbent with fly gear so I can't tell you if it will work or not. I have seen a fly fisherman walking back up to his car as I was on my way down, but didn't stop for a chat.

It can't hurt to try mate.

Re: Devilbend Reservoir

I don't think i've ever seen a fish rise there which is a bit strange but there are certainly fish in the lake, it's just a matter of getting one to eat your lure before it gets weeded up. I like trout on ultra light gear but the heavier stuff is necessary to get out past the week i've found, in tha...

Re: Monday morning..

LP there are some great spots in inverloch, in particular pensioners point and flat rocks. Pensioners point is an amazing salmon spot that has produced the odd gummy, flat rocks whiting, trevally and flatties. You can pump fresh yabbies from the screw creek area, or if you're salmon fishing walk up ...

Re: Surf Trip / Reeves Beach / June 13th, 14th & 15th.

http://www.anaconda.com.au/Product/Water/Fishing/Lures/Pilchard--Lure-40g Has anyone tried these? Prefer the baitfish for casting shape. Just wish they'd do a 50 gram version... As technique improves i'm having more success casting slightly heavier weights as well. 40g used to be the max i'd go, no...
