Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance

Not really offshore or inshore! Checked the Lakes web cam early this morning and the channel next to Bullock Island was alive with birds. Grabbed a rod and went down and under the birds it was equally alive with small to medium salmon. Was a fish a cast for a few minutes until the seals showed up. T...

Re: Offshore Lakes Entrance

My 2 recent trips West of The Pines resulted in a few decent Flatties among many smaller ones. Also a few large Gurnard. Anchored up in 10 metres and put out a burley bomb for an hour and finally hooked a large Gummy - which spat the hook next to the boat. Also made a quick visit to the local KGW sp...

Re: Stacer 469 outlaw

Go for it Tackleberry!!!!!!!! I fish from Lakes in a 4.25 m Ally Craft (much smaller than my previous boats but easy to handle on my own) - OK outside on a nice day but a bit limited. Am thinking of something around the size of your new boat. Not just for sea keeping but also space.

Re: KGW Gippsland Lakes

A sign or wishful thinking??????? At the ramp yesterday a legal KGW was being cleaned. The angler told me they had a school of small KGW in one of the usual haunts close to Lakes Entrance and caught several undersize plus the legal one.

Re: Lakes Entrance whiting?

Visited the usual haunts yesterday and, apart from another strong welcome from the Toadfish, no sign of any KGW. An hour casting lures and plastics did result in one decent hit but was equally fruitless in terms of catch. The KGW should be with us soon hopefully!!!!

Re: Recommendations for 5 to 6 metre aluminium boat to buy

For a long time I fished (inshore, offshore, lakes) from a 5m Quintrex Fishmaster - which was a cuddy cabin and provided good protection - and would fish 3 adults. Something around the 5.5m range should achieve what you want You should consider the hull thickness and if you can get a plate boat with...

Re: Lake entrance

Hi again bowl at present there are no reports of KGW anywhere around Lakes Entrance and with the cold water the Flathead have also been hard to come by. At the ramp cleaning tables yesterday a guy was cleaning a good catch of Bream and large Mullet - reportedly caught on sandworm and spider crab fro...

Re: Lake entrance

Hi Bowl

At present the Lakes system (at least the lakes closer to Lakes Entrance) are dead with no KGW around as yet. The Charter boats are getting reasonable catches of Pinkies and other reef fish offshore. There has been reasonable Bream fishing in the rivers. Hope this helps.

SEA RUN BROWN TROUT

Nice to see a Sea Run Brown Trout caught in Lake King last week. Back in the day when there was netting in the Gippsland lakes every so often a large trout would be caught. The occasional large brown is also caught below the Bairnsdale weir in the Mitchell River.
