Re: VRFish Oppose Proposed Commercial Increase in Port Phillip Bay
Often the bycatch is stuff like, grey rock cod, bulleye gurnard. Skate, wrasse etc. These are all sold on the market. I just wonder what they catch in the bay. I am amazed that people get wound up and just oppose it without finding out the facts. The greater variety of fish sold the better, as it t...

Re: VRFish Oppose Proposed Commercial Increase in Port Phillip Bay
A million fishermen taking on average 1kg each a year seems pretty low to be honest. Re: Flurocarbon vs Mono Leader
20lb braid and 20lb leader is a very good size for squid.
If you are fishing in very clear water going to thinner leader seems to increase catch rate. I often run 8lb around mornington for example.

Re: Fireline
I tried fused lines for a bit but really really didn't like them. Has there been any significant upgrades in the past 5ish years? Not that I am aware off. It is all pretty much the same. Some of the semi fused braid started to use a teflon coating around 5 years ago, feels very slipery and is proba...

Re: Fireline
Fireline is fused and super tough and long lasting. It needs to wear in and takes quite sometime to do so the upside it will last 10 years if not more. Fireline is back on its spool for now, might just use it on my bait rod next season. I think with all lines the "rating" will just be a reference f...
