Re: Anyone finding mulloway recently?

The river is now (miraculously) full of EPs - with some very big fish up over 50cm about, too. This would suggest that they are not stocked fish. Where did they come from? Is it just that people are fishing more with lures in recent years?

Re: 3.9 mako kayak

For a moment, I thought this post was about catching a 3.9m mako shark from a kayak ... which, come to think of it, would be a very, very bad idea.

Re: Somewhere down an urban river

Awesome result - well done! I still remember the first time I went out to deliberately target mulloway - they are such a challenge, but the rewards are just as great.

Re: Shallow Inlet Fishing

You can walk out to the mouth, but be VERY careful re: tides and location - especially on the Sandy Point side. The edges can turn to quicksand quite quickly as the tide comes back in. Once out there, however, casting slugs / metal lures should produce some big salmon from the channel. Failing that,...

Re: Yarra snapper

Great work! Where there is bait, there is snapper. In Melbourne they are found more or less in the same areas as mulloway, and tend to succumb to the same tactics. My brother and I have caught some large one over the years from the year - the best going 84cm and 7.4 kg and 81cm and 7.6kg. Most years...

Try a running sinker (or weightless) with crab for bait for for larger bream.

Re: TREES FOR FISH EVENT Maribyrnong River Monday 20 May, 2019

Regardless of the presentation, this is an absolutely brilliant idea. It should be policy along the Yarra, too - no trees, no cod (and down lower, no snags, no estuary perch either). This will benefit many species both in the fresh and saltwater sections of the river.
